Most of the time a speaker zone controller keypad is used to control an Audio Distribution System.

In the room where it is installed, the keypad selects its speaker zone's audio source, controls the volume, tone, balance, loudness, and all other functions of the system.

The speaker zone controller keypad can contain or not an amplifier providing output power to speakers.
